Changing A Pallet Can Often Be a Risky Process

Various distribution chains of large size have spread all across the big city, both in Italy and abroad. All these department stores sell different types of products. There can be products right from food to goods for managing mechanical objects or certain electronic objects.

They may differ in superstores, megastores, and a few hyper stores based on the structure.

When any products are shipped to such stores, the supplier may deliver the pallets along with the goods and the transporter will carry back the same number of empty pallets.

Mostly, this is what happens in European trade, which can always bring some misunderstandings and problems. So, we will discuss what you must pay attention to while exchanging pallets.

Certain equipment like volteador de palets (English Meaning pallet turner or pallet inverter) may also be introduced into the operation to make the process safe.

The pallet is crucial for the transporting and storing of goods and is of the size usually 120cm long, and 80cm wide and can easily withstand products having a maximum weight of 1.5 tons.

In other words, usually, it will be 48” in length and 40” in width, and can easily carry a maximum of up to 4,000 pounds.

These days, almost everyone is aware of how a pallet can be made, particularly thanks to the accomplishment of recent years in furniture and furnishings production in “industrial style”.

Wooden pallets can be classified into 3 categories as per their use:

  • New
  • Like New
  • Used, but exchangeable

Based on their condition, GMA or North American standard pallets can be repaired by any licensed company and any excessively damaged pallets can be removed from the whole exchange operations.

Another interesting alternative to the use of the wooden pallet was cleverly introduced by another group last year who used Green Pallets, i.e., pallets that are made using entirely recycled and also 100% recyclable plastic, which is quite durable and has allowed the German multinational to replace almost 50,000 Euro-pallets with only 5,000 Green pallets, for a ratio of 10 to 1.

About 8 years ago, another company launched a revolutionary initiative for replacing wooden pallets from the market. In this system, a new patented system is used for transporting, moving, and stacking all the loads.

Why exchanging the pallets?

The goods manufactured need to be transported to reach the premises of the customer. For safely transporting by truck, the goods can usually be packed on the GMA pallet, which is secured and transported in a semi-trailer to their destination.

In this case, an empty truck comes with empty pallets at the loading point and exchanges the latter with all the goods that are packed on pallets. After that, the driver, after arriving at his destination, will deliver the goods and will collect back empty pallets equivalent to what was unloaded.

This is for ensuring that sufficient load carriers will always be available along the supply chain.

However, behind the simple pallet exchange process there are always certain pitfalls for the transporter, the driver who will carry out the transport, and also the recipient of all the unloaded goods.
